Effortless Chocolate Cherry Upside (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Base Layer

01 - 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
02 - 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
03 - 1 can (21 oz) cherry pie filling

→ Cake Batter

04 - 3 large eggs
05 - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
06 - 1 box chocolate cake mix
07 - 1 cup water
08 - 1/2 cup vegetable oil

# Instructions:

01 - Get your oven going at 350°F (175°C). Butter up a 9×13-inch pan, then pour the melted butter into the bottom. Add the brown sugar evenly on top, and finish with an even layer of cherry pie filling.
02 - Grab a large bowl and mix together the cake mix, eggs, oil, water, and vanilla. Stir until the batter is smooth and there aren’t any lumps.
03 - Slowly pour the batter right over the cherry layer. Spread it out gently to make sure it’s even.
04 - Bake for around 35-40 minutes. You’ll know it’s done when a toothpick comes out clean from the center.
05 - Let the cake sit in the pan for about 10 minutes. Place a large serving plate on top and flip it upside down. Serve warm or let it cool to room temp before digging in.

# Notes:

01 - This dessert is a mix of gooey cherry goodness and rich chocolate cake, flipped to perfection.
02 - Let the cake cool for a bit before flipping so the cherries don’t stick to the pan.
